The Brief
I participated in a design competition for the Czech Center in Bucharest that required me to create a print design for Skoda and an imaginary slogan ? Human Touch ? instead of Simply Clever. There was complete freedom for the creative mind, and I had plenty of ideas to throw around.
The Solution
Sticking to the brief, I thought of a print campaign to highlight Skoda?s human touch. Nothing says human touch like the accessories you actually choose to wear. They are the ones that emphasize who you are and how you should be treated by society. A diamond ring and a classy night gown will say ?lady going to a society party.? A business suit and a brand wrist watch will say ?make way for the man.? It seemed cool to me to declare owning and driving a Skoda says something about you. Skoda is your accessory, and you should wear it proudly. I won second place, and I was bitter because I was one of the two participants (out of a total of around 15) that actually stuck to the brief, instead of rambling about Simply Clever. FYI, the winner?s print featured a brain underneath the hood (freehand drawing, no color), with the slogan Simply Clever.
